The Dictator Named Jante

The Election results are in, That party won! The party that Jante doesn't like. It goes against the normality of the law of Jante. They will write articles after articles talking about the differences the party have with Jante. They will go on every public forum and explain why this party goes against Jante. The people will either choose to follow Jante and be deemed heroes or they will be branded as against Jante. Being against Jante might mean that your unions won't work with you, your friends will leave you and society will abandon you. No one goes against Jante! This might seem odd and you might wonder what Jante is. The law of Jante is something that exists in Sweden and most of the Nordic nations. It means you should not be different, better or worse than the people around you. You should not brag, you should not have different opinions and not go against the norm. These laws of Jante are the dictator of Sweden because it means you can't go against the ruling culture without being branded as bad. It is used by the established parties to stop any descent. If people are not allowed to think differently, then no one can challenge the ruling order. When issues arise in the nation it is better not to talk about them because it will upset the Jante. One of the parties that go against Jante is now the second biggest party. This is not really allowed, so the institutions of the former government will be used to slander them as bad. This seems not to work this time around, but it has for a long time. In the last election, the established parties instead wanted to create a parliamentary crisis after crisis just to keep them away from power. Crime rates have gone up, multiple ethnic gangs have formed and there are shootings in public areas. When these gangs shoot innocent people in public, the media will deem them lucky for not being killed by the wounds. The media does this so the party that goes against Jante don't get more support. A change might now happen, with the party against Jante in parliament. New normality might arise, and the media attacking the party will sooner or later stop. People will lose interest in the media attacking the party and wants them to talk about other things. This will make it so that people accept the party being in parliament. This has two effects: It will make the party more moderate to follow Jante and it will also make the people change their ideas about Jante. But in the end, Jante will rule.

No matter what you do in Sweden, the laws of Jante will always rule. He will stay the dictator in Sweden. Even if you change his opinions on small things, it still means if you go against him your life will be ruined. So the question becomes: Is Sweden a democracy if a dictator like Jante is allowed to exist?
